BROTHERHOOD
Brotherhood is an unbreakable bond; It's more than friendship. Within a brotherhood, there is a mutual spirit of respect and brotherly love. Much of brotherhood relies on responsibility - to yourself, to others, to your campus and community. Part of the brotherhood experience is that you will you be held to high standards, and also be recognized as one who will hold others to such standards. It is by this, a Fraternity is not defined by the letter, but by the brotherhood formed.
COMMUNITY SERVICE | PHILANTHROPY
Service is a cornerstone to the Greek life experience. Through ethical, good service, you not only do good, but you also grow in impactful relationships in the community and with your brotherhood. Each of our chapters have established connections with local community partners and national, philanthropic organizations. In our community, Fraternity and sorority members:
Complete 15,000 hours of service in our local community annually &
Chapters continually raise more than $50,000 annually for philanthropic organizations.

LEADERSHIP
Greek life offers unprecedented access into the world of daily and often high-level leadership. Through involvement in our organizations, members will have the opportunity to grow in self-awareness and identity as they seek to become 21-century leaders grounded in integrity and driven by ethical, moral-compasses. As a member of a Fraternity, one will receive unmatched practice in personal and leadership development necessary in college and beyond. Students in Greek Life are among the most selfless and successful, and many hold leadership positions on campus. Some examples include the 2019-2020 Student Assembly President, Executive Vice President, past class presidents, Orientation Leaders, Student Ambassadors, and many others, are fraternity or sorority members.
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
When students join a fraternity, they become part of a larger group of students who value their academic success here at Christopher Newport University. The Greek life experience is meant to enrich your educational experience. Each chapter appoints or selects an officer whose sole responsibility is to monitor members’ academic success and provide or coordinate assistance as needed. Each chapter has established a minimum grade point average in order to be in good standing and actively participate in chapter functions. At Christopher Newport, the all-Greek grad point average is consistently higher than the campus GPA.
